I'm not articulating it very well. Basically, should we be passing laws - the details of which have to be agreed on by a bi-partisan majority in the legislature - to tell the parties how they select their candidates? Obviously the parties want it this way but it seems there is something basically wrong with it.

It sets up a feedback mechanism that I'm not sure is healthy. The parties work to elect legislators who pass laws to define how parties select people to get elected who will go to the legislature to...........
