I think the "good post" comments are thread bloat, even though I am guilty of them, myself.

I move (make a motion) to eliminate them, as well. Specifically, I move (make a motion) that if you have a comment of substance, make it, but don't simply say, "good post."


I vote a very firm no. I would, of course, as the principle practioner. But those posts by others help me read the thread. I skim, quite a bit. When someone else says a post is interesting and I skimmed it the first time around, that's my cue to read it carefully. That's why I say "good post" at times. It's my signal that, at least for me, this one rose above the rest. And if anyone's interested, they might take a more serious look.

I'm not bothered by thread bloat. I have other things that bother me.
