If showing evidence of a Sadaam / Al Quaida link would compromise our sources in any way the evidence would not be shown. I believe the liklihood is that such evidence exists and our sources would be exposed if it were shared. The very worst time to lose a source is when you are going to war.

The liberals criticized Bush I for not finishing Sadaam. To have done so would have been to go against his agreements with the coalition members. Now that Bush II is going to finish the job - he gets the criticism. The point is that the liberals will speak out of both sides of their mouths to criticize a Republican.

Stalin and Hitler didn't like each other, either. But together, they invaded Poland.

Churchill and Stalin, didn't like each other either, but that didn't stop them from working together to stop Hitler.

The fact is, Saddam only allows inspectors to poke around, because U.S. troops are being shipped to the region. If U.S. troops start going back home, He'll kick the inspectors out, or make their job impossible.

re:"Think of the trillions lost just because Bush doesn't want to compromise and let inspectors do their thing...Osama Bin Lauden in fact hates Saddam. If anyone pushes them together it will probably be us. Osama wants islamic law, something Saddam strongly opposes. Apples and oranges."

As DavesM said, "Stalin and Hitler didn't like each other, either. But together, they invaded Poland."

Truth is, re: "But we can easily keep him in a box and under inspection for a long time. So he wont be able to hurt anyone," that it AIN'T easy, and he CAN still hurt lots of folks out of the inspection box, and by his actions we KNOW he wants to.

I agree with you about your distrust of Bush and the reasoning behind this war. I really do believe that it's all about controlling that oil. Occupy Iraq and pump that oil profit into his buddies pockets. He probably won't even use the oil money to pay off the war debt that WE will pay!! Bush has proven over and over that he will give away the farm to his rich buddies.

I agree also that there has been no real evidence presented by anyone. Colin Powell's assertions were all based on his hope that we would all take his word for it. That's all we have. I also agree that the world would not miss Saddam. And some evidence cannot be shown because that would compromise the methods of collecting it if that is a secret.

But what I fear the most is what Bush is doing to our own country and our freedom. Read the whole article at the link below.

Justice Dept. Drafts Sweeping Expansion of Anti-Terrorism Act
Center Publishes Secret Draft of ‘Patriot II’ Legislation
By Charles Lewis and Adam Mayle

(WASHINGTON, Feb. 7, 2003) -- The Bush Administration is preparing a bold, comprehensive sequel to the USA Patriot Act passed in the wake of September 11, 2001, which will give the government broad, sweeping new powers to increase domestic intelligence-gathering, surveillance and law enforcement prerogatives, and simultaneously decrease judicial review and public access to information.
The Center for Public Integrity has obtained a draft, dated January 9, 2003, of this previously undisclosed legislation and is making it available in full text (12 MB). The bill, drafted by the staff of Attorney General John Ashcroft and entitled the Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003, has not been officially released by the Department of Justice, although rumors of its development have circulated around the Capitol for the last few months under the name of “the Patriot Act II” in legislative parlance.
