was this predicted, Red Herring shutting down, I mean? I am really quite surprised. I can see where VC can't support 2 magazines (upside + rh) but once upside went out I assumed RH would survive. Wow.

Of course some of the me-too entrepreneurial mags still exist - fast company, bus 2.0 and line451 I think are still around, maybe they cut into RH. Not the same quality imo though.

The easy way to eBay

Monday, AuctionDrop, the brainchild of three valley veterans, is opening its first store in San Carlos, on Industrial Road near BestBuy and Breuners.

If the item sells, the customer receives a check in the mail, minus a 20 percent to 40 percent commission.

The company takes care of photographing the item for online display, monitoring the listing, payment processing and shipping it to the buyer.

It's all a matter of convenience, said Heidi Roizen, managing director of Mobius Venture Capital. She and Draper Fisher Jurvetson's Tim Draper have put up several hundred thousand dollars in seed money.
