Re: Brazilian wine...

I have looked for it without success. (I have heard of Uruguayan wine being as good as Argentinean, but never tried it.

I love Argentinean and Chilean wine; like the Italians, they keep the best for local consumption, (which are extraordinary). Unfortunately they export little (if any) of their best.

The only Argentinean wine I disliked was a unblended Malbec (i forgot the grower/vineyard), and unfortunately most of what they export is on the lower scale of quality, but they are not bad... occasionally you come across some wonderful cabernets sauvignot/melot/cabernet franc. blended in the tradition of Bordeaux, mainly from Chile.

In Buenos Aires, I was able to taste their best and they are truly outstanding. The vineyards of Argentina and Chile originate from the time prior to the Phyloxera bug that attacked and nearly destroyed the European vineyards in the mid 1800's I do not know if that would have something to do with their excellent quality... most vineyards in these countries grow the grapes of Bordeaux with a few new additions of Chardonnay. Lately, they have been adding other varietals but it is too early to know if they will have the success of their normal production. Both Argentina and Chile have been benefited from the knowledge of European vintners who emigrated there, primarily Italians.

I tried to look for Brazilian wines, yet found none... if you know of some... please guide me... My reservation is that Brazil may be outside the "ideal weather bands" for vine growing... but I could be wrong

While I lived in London, I got to know several Brazilian people I loved their attitude and gusto for celebration... as witnessed in the world cup (fútebol). I saw their worst (1966 in England) and in particularly in their best 1970 victory against the Italians (in Mexico).

In both instances, (at least what I saw) Brazilian fans were well behaved --in good and bad times-- with an unmatched "happy" attitude and incredible "knack" for celebration... Those experiences back then, were enough for me to desire to spend some time in Brazil... Unfortunately... being busy with life, I have not yet been able to do it... (The same applies to Spain for different reasons) The closest I have been is Buenos Aires... I am well aware that it is NOT even close. -ggg

As for the garota.... yes, I agree with you.... but from what I have seen so far.... I do not think it would be too hard to come by the "right one" .... well, at least to forget wines... -ggg

My nephew is married to a Brazilian lady... incredibly beautiful green eyes... his children are learning three languages and doing well I understand.
