The nuclear road is failure of the worst kind. Also, nukes don't have "we kill military targets only" signs on them.

Were that to happen, it'd be my guess it would happen mid-war, not pre-war, in a surprise effort to try and catch the US when it is most vulnerable, sitting in the desert encircling Baghdad. The think here would be Syrian and Iranian leaders thinking: "Hey, this Bush is dangerous and he's gonna invade us next. Perhaps we should consolidate and try and defeat them so they'll go home and stay out of the Middle East. There is a precedent for this when Reagan withdrew the soldiers after the Marine Barracks explosion in Lebanan.
