This is more than we've ever seen you type here Lino, the most points touched on ... bravo ... in re 'with 2 fingers', you're probably best to stick with them, i find that learning to type faster led me to spend inordinate amounts of time on this net, which is fine but it gets you way behind on chores, which would be fine in itself if a person didn't have a slavedriv ... um, wife '.. assuming I support the US position' Replies you have made here, including one to Gulo the other day, did lead me in the direction of that assumption, yes .... were it not for gardening duties imposed i could pick out several, also some from the post to which i am responding here ... for one example - 'those that point their finger at others' ... everybody's got a finger, and i see you in adjacent wording pointing yours at others ... ahem ... we all do that, it's called 'politics' And it is is quite incorrect to say 'the US position' when speaking of pine lobby propaganda and control of the US 'Commerce' department .... really it is about the interests of the people of this continent versus the interests of a small clique with access to the halls of power .... this also is called 'politics' Agreed in re the 'value-added' programme, at least as far as what i've seen of it .... i would have been personally screwed by it one time if not for a lucky stroke in log price movement, as i'd bid on timber based on a price for one sort/grade that was to go to an outfit that got 'value-added' wood [we call it 'subsidy wood', a far clearer term], and with no notice dropped the price on me ... it wasn't much of a drop really, but pride took hold and i said a deal's a deal, stand by your word or GFY ... and, truth be told, i didn't quite achieve that level of diplomacy in wording, at the time .... but as luck would have it, i got a better price than the original one, elsewhere, it just took a few weeks ... it is better to be lucky than smart But the value-added wood doesn't amount to much ... the big thing to the pine lobby is the interior SPF framing lumber that competes directly with their twisty yellow pine .... we wetcoasters get screwed at the same time because we're in the same province, is all ... by the way, in my career as an independent i have dealt in almost no wood from crown land, the great majority of it i bid for as a willing buyer, from a willing and private seller ... yet the price i can get for logs produced is reduced by the level of harassment du jour coming from the pine lobby .... it is all bullshit, their preaching of 'free markets bla bla bla', from start to finish ... if all land went up for fire-sale auction tomorrow due to their control of DC, they'd still be attacking us until the day they control all the wood directly .... and you know that, don't you We have always had to defend this country, from the murders and lootings of the 1770s till now, and we always will, that's a fact of life ..... one of the most effective ways is to puncture the bullshit of the Washington cliques, because the average US national is in most periods not nearly so bloody-minded, they see us as neighbours and cousins, as we do them ... shining a little light of day on the pine lobby's act will be helpful in this, ignoring it will not
