There's no way to guarantee innocent people won't die in war. This line of argument would mean never ever using military force. Personally I reject pacifism.

You've already mentioned your worries about Iran and Syria. Sounds baseless to me. For those who worry about Iran and Syria attacking us, I guess for you that's a reason.

and increasing levels of hatred and terrorism against the United States.

I think the people who hate us and want to commit terrorism against us will hate us and want to commit terrorism against regardless of what we do in Iraq.
