As Independent Director, Ambassador Marc Ginsberg Brings Insight Into Geopolitical And Global Economic Opportunities for Xybernaut(R)
FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 3, 2003-- Xybernaut Corporation (NASDAQ:XYBR - News) today announced the appointment of Ambassador Marc Ginsberg as an independent member of the Company's Board of Directors.
Ambassador Ginsberg, whose three-decade government and private sector career has largely been focused on the Middle East as a diplomat, an international corporate lawyer, and investment banker, is considered an expert on Trans-Atlantic and Middle East politics and economics.
Ambassador Ginsberg serves as an on-air analyst to several major network and cable news outlets, such as CNN, Bloomberg, Fox and MSNBC, as well as Al Jazeerah (Arab satellite TV) and Abu Dhabi TV. He is also President of a new Arab language television production company, Layalina Productions, and serves on many prestigious panels addressing U.S. foreign and trade policies.
Ginsberg is a sought-after speaker on U.S. foreign, defense and economic policy around the world. He provides expert analysis of current world events, including the genesis of Al Qaeda and its roots in Islam, the future of the Trans-Atlantic partnership, the showdown over Iraq, and the continuing tensions between Israel and the Palestinians.
In addition, Ginsberg currently serves as CEO and Managing Director of Northstar Equity Group in Washington, D.C., a global financial advisory and capital sourcing company.
Ginsberg began his career as a Middle East foreign policy advisor to Senator Edward Kennedy. He joined the Carter Administration as Special Assistant to the Secretary of State for White House Relations and was later appointed Deputy Senior Advisor to the President for Middle East Policy at the White House.
During the 1980's, Ginsberg practiced international corporate law in the U.S. and in the Middle East. He helped draft Egypt's first modern commercial statute. During the 1991 Gulf War, Ginsberg was a consultant to CBS, CNN and NBC News. He served as President Clinton's Deputy Press Secretary for Foreign Affairs during the 1992 campaign and transition.
Appointed by Clinton as United States Ambassador to Morocco in 1993, Ginsberg coordinated new U.S. trade and investment initiatives in the Mediterranean Basin and the Middle East, including the OPIC Investment Fund. He also conceptualized a new U.S. Middle East "Reverse Trade Mission" concept, which generated over $100 million in new U.S. exports.
In addition to his work with the Federal government, Ginsberg served as Senior Partner and Chief Financial Officer at Galland, Kharasch, Morse and Garfinkle where he represented international investment banks in emerging market penetration, and multinational aviation, telecommunications and energy companies with an emphasis on project finance, equity investments, international IPOs, joint venture development and privatizations.
Ginsberg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the American University (### laude), a Masters of Business Administration (candidate) degree from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center. He speaks fluent French, Arabic and Hebrew.
"We are honored to have Ambassador Ginsberg join our board and we expect that his extensive background in corporate finance, international trade, geopolitics, global economics and international corporate law will provide Xybernaut with an ideal skill set to significantly enhance the implementation of our overall global growth strategy," said Edward Newman, chairman, president and CEO of Xybernaut.
