If you want to win a war, you had better understand your enemy. Even if your enemy does not make logical sense, you had better be able to understand the premises he accepts, and the way he interprets those premises. If you can understand and manipulate the thinking of your enemy, you can win wars without bloodshed. In this case, we are at war with certain ideas in the ME. If we are clever, and understand our opponents, we have a better chance of winning a bloodless war. We COULD choose to ignore that part of the equation, but that seems foolish to me.

The above (imo) is different than "running our country to disprove conspiracy theories".
