Now there's an odd post.

I think it is impossible to imagine what the ME would be like without Israel, but I disagree with your assessment, and I have to be amused at your inclusion of the Shah next to the Ayatollah. If we hadn't supported the Shah, the Ayatollah might never have come to power.

I don't think we should be working against Israel, but we certainly shouldn't be giving them the kind of money we do. And that money has to help them with their military programs- conventional and nuclear. I doubt we know exactly what they spend American taxpayer's cash on (or should I say American taxpayer's future cash?). I'm against much foreign aid, not just Israel's foreign aid. But in Israel's case, our foreign aid actually buys us a pack of trouble. Seems silly to finance your own problems.
