then Israel would enter the war and Syrian army would last at best a day or so.

I just watched the movie Gods & Generals, about the early part of the Civil War when the Confederate forces won nearly every major engagument. Of course that movie is followed by Gettysburg which showed that the Confederacy, like Israel, can win as many engagements as they can without ending the conflict, but only has to lose once.
