I think that the best way to get back at him and others is by being rich <g>. Certain topics of discussion can help that, others are probably a waste of time.

Caring about politics is not bad, I just think that we are mostly wasting our time when we discuss this stuff here too much. There are more effective venues for fact finding, learning, and promulgation of political and social thought than this message board. The blogging community is an excellent avenue for such pursuits. A good starting point is instapundit.com and from there, you can find hundreds of other links to suit your particular political/social bent.

On the other hand, there are few venues for intelligent and two-sided discussions of economic implosions, certain commodity plays, anti-clown thought, smart trading, etc., and this happens to be one of them. I am not trying to stop people from talking about politics, all I am saying is that you guys kick ass at trading and stocktalk, but you are pretty mediocre when it comes to all that political stuff, you are outgunned by those bloggers, sorry. Don't feel bad, the otherwise intelligent bloggers are somehow blind to the dangers in our economy now. They talk about the war a lot, and other things, but never about the economy. They will get blindsided by any economic trouble that actually hits.

Don't get me wrong, political issues will affect the markets and we should be talking about it, its just that the kinds of questions we need to ask are not straight up the middle war talk. A few examples:

Anything that speaks objectively to the timing of the war, start and stop dates, etc.

Anything that speaks to the relative magnitude of war premiums vs possible macroeconomic ills

Anything that speaks to the odds or magnitude of financial repercussions of terrorist attacks

Etc.

Bottom line, we are lame at politics talk, but you guys rock at stocktalk, so keep up the stocktalk!

You guys can flame the crap out of me now...
