Rose:

Looks like most of the experts are out at the moment. I know that if you have Outlook Express 6, you would go to Tools>Options>Security index tab. You probably have the box checked that says "Do not allow attachments to be opened that could potentially be a virus" or something like that. It's windows way of saving your computer from being harmed. Hopefully you have virus catching software installed.

You would uncheck that box and you will be able to open your attachments.

Jerry

The only thing I can think of that might be happening is somewhere in McAfee's options or preferences there is a setting that might remove the ability to clear the checkmark in Outlook Express. You might try poking around in McAfee for an OEX plugin or setting that would do that. Maybe a block of the file type .eml

how I can get the pictures to be displayed?

Hi Rose,

Were you able to get this problem fixed?

I just looked into it as the same problem happens to me with file attachments when I update my Windows operating system software. i.e. I get message in mail title..

"OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail"

It is the default condition for security, a real pain, and is changed by looking in the EMAIL [OUTLOOK EXPRESS] window. Just open your mail (read mail) , select TOOLS, OPTIONS, SECURITY, and UNCHECK the BOX next to "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus"

Of course this also means you have to be careful what files you open. Even people you might know may accidently send you a file with a virus on it, they usually propagate by emailing themselves to everyone in the recipients mail address book. Thus if you have your PC infected, the virus will send itself to everyone in your address book as if you sent the email (and virus). Therefore you need updated virus software scanning, and also be careful what files you open. If in doubt delete emails with file attachments you are suspicious of.

I have also been reading your messages on your internet connection problems. What happened exactly when

"I was not able to get on line yesterday after my ISP disconnected me about 9:45AM"

If possible you need to detail the type of connection you have and the hardware used. The condition of the hardware before and after disconnection.

For example, if you have and external modem to connect to the internet, some one could be simply disconnecting the power to it. There are lots of possibilities.
