Les, I think we're referring to different studies.

The study I mentioned was about class-size reduction in primary classes (Kindergarten-3rd grade). I don't know of an elementary school that offers advanced placement classes. This study found a statistically significant effect of class-size reduction on academic achievement test scores.

Mysteriously, the news media ran a flash that class-size reduction had no effect on test scores. I read the study and found that it clearly notes the positive effect. I can only guess that there is a political reason to write such news.
