Iraq was not even able to conquer Iran, when it was actually at war, with our backing.

We did not want it to conquer Iran. Nor did we want Iran to conquer it.

I find it hard to find Iraq not at war with anyone, and as weak and pitiful as it is, on a par with Germany.

Iraq is not at war with anyone and is weak and pitiful because it is under sanctions and large sections of the country are "no-fly zones". In other words, we are militarily constraining it. I don't think this constraint can be maintained forever nor should it have to be.

When Hitler came to power, Germany's economy was in shambles and the country had been disarmed. It was weak and pitiful too.

The description of Iraq as weak and pitiful is ironic, considering that some folks on this thread say war with Iraq will be like the battle of Stalingrad. Massive American casulties are predicted.

So we'll just have to disagree.

Indeed.
