I wonder if those opposed have an ulterior motive such as the French So sure are you of your righteousness, you can only ascribe ulterior motives to others. Of course, the US has no ulterior motives such as controlling the $5 trillion worth of Iraqi oil. We always act in best interests of humanity while others are bereft of this innate goodness. But then God has always been on our side. almost emboldens my opinion more. I say that because in most cases the majority is wrong. Then why have Democracy at all? If Democracy reflects the will of the majority, then it is mostly wrong. Gee, Saddam will really like that. I hope that you are willing to admit that you are wrong when you are in the majority. So if the majority of the people are opposed to torture, you are emboldened in your opinion that torture is acceptable. Furthermore I believe leadership must ignore popular belief as it tend to force you to do things that are not in the long term best interest of the very people you are leading Once again, you show contempt for the people. Apparently, only the leadership can know what's in the long term best interest of the people. Once common people become leaders, God insures their infinite infallibility. Only American leaders get this blessing. Others are cursed with fallibility. And you are entitled to your opinion and should proudly and loudly voice it. That is your right as an American Having proclaimed that the people are irrelevant, you now ask me to proudly and loudly voice my opinion. Why? So that our leaders can do the opposite? Feeling good and doing the right thing do not always go hand in hand. Living by principle feels good and is always the right thing to do. Try it. Just once. I'm not sure its possible for a human to be inhumane to another human Inhumane means lacking and reflecting lack of pity or compassion. It must be some utopia that you must be living in while we languish in a cruel world. Could you please invite us all in except Saddam and Kim, of course? Also leave out the majority that is almost always wrong, too. Just desserts, I would say. Or pie in the sky?
