No one on this thread should be confused about the true orientation of European policy with regard to competition. It is not because they are wounded by "our treatment" that they have blocked any chance of a CDMA competitor in Europe. This happens while the US allows T-Mobile to become a national competitor in GSM. It is also not because of "our treatment" that they have blocked Genetically Modified Agricultural products to be sold in Europe. Again I see a strong economic interest at stake.

These are all non-Tariff trade barriers and the Europeans use them masterfully to promote their own agenda. It is only prudent to think that the environmental issues you refer to may be more of the same. As far as the Middle East, listening to Villepin this morning debating George Stephanopolis about Iraq, was an amazing case of denial by Villepin. IMHO Tom
