China Mobile Chairman Wang May Join Rival, Economic Times Says

By Kenneth Wong

Hong Kong, March 3 (Bloomberg) -- Wang Xiaochu, chairman of China Mobile (H.K.) Ltd., a unit of the bigger of the nation's two mobile-phone companies, may join rival China United Telecommunications Corp. as an executive director, the Hong Kong Economic Times reported, without citing anyone.

The appointment will be one of a series of management changes at Chinese state-owned companies to be announced at the National People's Congress that starts in Beijing this week, the newspaper reported.

China United spokeswoman Liu Nana declined to comment. A China Mobile spokesman said the company hasn't received any notice about management changes.

Deputy Minister of Information Industry Zhang Jiangchun may replace Zhang Liqui as director general at China Mobile's parent company China Mobile Communications Corp., the newspaper said.

Kong Dan, deputy chairman of China International Trust & Investment Corp., the investment arm of the Chinese Cabinet, may succeed Wang Jun as chairman, according to the report. Final changes haven't been decided, the paper said.

CITIC, China Mobile and China United are among Chinese companies that have set up and sold shares in Hong Kong units.
