The rift this has caused with countries that used to be our allies is an indication of how bad this administration is on diplomacy. They can't get anything right, and as a last resort, they blame everything on terrorism, regardless of whether there's any evidence to back up their assertions.

This is true with domestic policy also. The Bush people are very vocal about terrorism, terror alerts, terror policy etc. They are fanning the flames of uncertainty and fear by doing this and it has worn on the economy which was weak to begin with. "Terror alerts" are the absolute worst example. Most leaders would ask themselves what the end is that they are trying to achieve with a terror alert to the general population. Bush doesn't seem to have done this, other than tell people to have a stockpile of duct tape on hand. So nobody really has any indication to do anything differently- but they are scared. Is this good policy- NO.

re: where the Kurds live (and getting away with it)
I am sure that Kurds are grateful for staying alive and even for getting away with it so far......
re: Bush jr. and sr. Daddy Bush
I was just wondering if you supported the Gulf war? Well, did you?
re: No, the present preemptive stance is not justified in international law.
you keep repeating "preemptive" so often that you start to believe it :-)) The fact is the Gulf war, the one that you supported, of course, ended under condition of destruction of all WMD and offensive conventional weapons. Sadam broke the treaty and hence it is just a continuation of the same war, which you support, of course, because it was sanctioned by UN, right?
re: they blame everything on terrorism,
I see your point, it was not terrorists that caused 911 but simple mechanic failure on a few jets at the same time....
re: smacks of military macho
eh?
