Yes it was passed by COngress but; according to Laz, some members didn't even read it before the voted for it. That's quite irresponsible.

We're headed down a slippery slope when we start to give up constitutional rights no matter how trivial they may seem at the time. You may think it's appropriate at this time but down the road the erosion of rights can be used to unjustifiably wreak havoc on an innocent person. Our Bill of Rights was set up to protect the minority from the will of the majority. When we stop that protection you are setting up the country for tyranny.

The prisoners' issue was addressed by Laz a few posts back................have to say that I agree with him in that if we abide by the Geneva COnvention rules of POW then we may be better able to protect our soldiers in the event that they are captured by hostiles. IF we find ways to circumvent those rules then other countries could use those same excuses to treat our own soldiers badly.
