Because after he left Germany and his families electrical business he failed to pass a Swiss schools test that would of allowed him to get a degree in electrical engineering. Later he went back to secondary school which allowed him attained his degree. He excelled because of his intellect and the second chance he had at attaining a higher education under a system that allowed for such. O ya the idiot was Edisen his teachers thought he would never amount to anything.
