I had a new pressure tank installed a few years ago and the plastic fitting on the bottom broke. It took over a week to dry the carpet in the basement. The shop vac suddenly was worth it's weight in gold.

One year the water table in Havana, Illinois rose clear up to the surface. Water every where. My friend who lives over there used sandbags and plastic all around his house and had 2 sump pumps running all the time in the basement. He also kept a spare on hand at all times and went through several that summer.
