Actually, you're right. The main goal is to get votes from the conservative right wing and those who share the views of the right. And some would also argue that Bush believes he is the messenger of God and is doing God's will by going after the infidels. (See recent Sunday New York Times op-ed piece.). Or, as I noted earlier, maybe it's just plain stupidity--starting a war after antagonizing most of your allies both on the war and on issues they care about, such as the environment. Seems like this whole strategy isn't well thought out. Art
