Re: Gulf War. Bush sr. had a UN mandate. His own field commander recommended cleaning house, and there was no objection from most Arab countries. But Bush thought he knew better and restrained Schwartzkopf.

If you believe we don't act on suspicions, then why don't we act against North Korea? No suspicions there. They admit to having weapons of mass destruction, and the means to deliver them. This administration has a different agenda for Iraq, and it goes back several years--to 1991 to be exact, and to the resulting election that daddy Bush lost because of his mistake.

While the French motive in threatening a veto may be suspect, the realization that an invasion of Iraq might be tantamount to a Pandora's box is what worries most nations, and not just France, Germany, and the Arabs.

As for what I think about Israel, they are on a course that can only lead to more death on both sides. Many of my friends in Israel agree.
