We are too talking about morality, for security was obviously not an issue (except the refugee situation). There was no other reason to go after Milosevic, other than to stop the "ethnic cleansing." The fact that it occurred in NATO's backyard only serves to expose the hypocrisy of Europeans. It makes them look like they'll tolerate such atrocities as long as it doesn't happen near their home soil.

First, the US would never tolerate or ignore such behavior for any length of time. And for good reason......when one country goes amok, the other countries in the neighborhood are threaten. Serbia is located in the most unstable part of Europe with many of the countries recently out from under the rule of Russia. Their gov'ts are even now still fairly unstable. Continued fighting in the former Yugoslavia was a threat to all the surrounding nations.

And frankly, I think its a little insensitive of you to talk about European hypocrisy over security. Europe has been the backdrop for a number of wars. Distances between nations is much smaller there.

If there was fighting in Vancouver, WA or in Salem or Eugene.....and those are the kind of distances we are talking about.....I think you would be a little nervous sitting in Portland watching the action. I know I would be.
