<i.I believe with my whole heart that Christ did in fact return
"quickly"

I think one would be the better served to rejoice in the fact of his coming in the first place ? Certainly was an extremely fearful and barbaric world in need of such young idealists of our species ....the Romans were most cruel, and there were even more barbaric counterparts in the east yet to arise...the Goths and Visi Goths , Tartars and the Mongols.

within a generation (40-42 years)
In 70 AD at the fall of Jerusalem.

That would be just 2 years (historically) after the reign of Nero ended , and just 6 years after the great fire destroyed much of Rome, in 64AD . The "Second Coming" would then have taken place under Titus Flavius Vespasianus or Vespasian (9-79; emperor, 69-79). Vespasian restored the peace and brought stability to the Empire following the rule of Nero.

At which time all the dead were resurrected and
called to the judgement seat of Christ.

All the dead were ressurected ? There were many "dead" in the world at that time , from out of many corners of the world , and dying all the time , and being born ... just which dead are you referring ?

The holding places - call them what you will - were emptied. Until them men "slept" in their graves waiting for Christ
to perfect the way into the true "holy of holies" behind
the true veil and at the right hand of God the Father.

Yes , I would agree with you that death is much like sleep . Do you dream when you are dead ? That would certainly indicate an afterlife !<G>
And those "holding places" for the "dead" ...now that is intriguing , could you elaborate ? That is quite a little area for the conjecture of the imagination...describing the "after-death" state. By what authority do you draw upon to use such a description of our being sent into a "holding pen" awaiting this final judgement ?

I might be able to assist you , if you fail! ;-)

Now you likely do not even believe Christ suffered the cross...
so why do I even bother?

Now that is a completely off-hand and self-serving remark to make . During the slave-revolt in Rome by Spartacus , over 6,000 were crucified along the roads leading to Rome at one time . I hardly , nor would any sane or rational person believe that they didn't suffer ...and Jesus (if he lived ) did as well too for his ideals. You will notice many men have died for belief, ideals , freedom all throughout history . Many you have never heard of , and i personally have thought of many many times of all that suffering. Most conscious & considerate men do who are aware of history.

Take care Mars - you will never see except that Lord grant you
the eyes to see that the word of God is contained within
the Holy Bible and not the works of men that you seem so fond of.

Of which works of men are you referring ? There are many scriptures in the world , some older & syncretistic paralleling your "Old Testament" , that were the work of also the Lord , just manifested just in different parts of the world...Judeo/Christianity has just begun to grow up, I just choose to see a larger Universe than you perhaps, and there are also many additions in the realm of the philosophical you seem to be ignoring. I could show you both the ancient and the modern that permeate and infuse even Christianity and Islam .

* Also one must pause to thank God for those rascals---> the ancient Greeks who were there to translate and preserve your scriptures though , do they get rewarded in heaven too? hehe

You really must solve this riddle of "spirit" & "matter" & "physical" & "body"....if you are to procede any further to make any sense , and also the study into the true composition of "Reality" , "Perception" and the "Sense of Self", which are the hallmarks of being sentient life after birth. I see you stumbling and fumbling over this all the time. Better figure it out soon.

One thing is certain , that after birth life procedes thru stages to death . Birth & death , death and birth ...no need to be afraid , it is quite a fine system in the end, and has worked for centuries , but there is hope always ,
especially for the one who sees his way to always fathom more.

Can we try to clarify your thinking here , and may you answer these:

1. Is God's final judgment (Matt. 25:31- 46; Rev. 20:12-15) behind us historically?

2. Is the physical resurrection of the dead (I Cor. 15; I Thes. 4:13-18; Rev. 20:12-13) behind us historically?

3. Will the church militant struggle against sin in history forever, parallelling the church triumphant's eternally sin-free existence in heaven?

4. Will sin and its curse, including physical death, continue throughout history, parallelling sin-free eternity in heaven?

5. Is original sin a temporary condition of mankind in history?

6. Are the Nicene Creed and Apostles' Creed incorrect when they identify Christ's final judgment of the living and the dead as being in the future?

;-)
