on moderated threads we always define limits to discourse by definition, otherwise, why have the thread moderated?

Of course you're right.

It is just that I can recall situations where other characterizations such as "right wing extremist" have been used and tolerated on this thread in the past. In fact I challenged the usage of that term about a year ago, and was politely told that if I didn't like it I could simply choose not to read the thread, that is was "my choice."

I thought that over and decided that they are only words thrown out in ignorance, fear or to intimidate, and that I should develop a thicker skin......which I have.

IMO the only ones who should be moderated off are religious or conspiracy theory fanatics who can't back up claims with fact. Personal attacks should be admonished, and abusers "put in jail." Spam should be prohibited.

Personally I try not to label anyone, but being human, I sometimes backslide.

I have learned a lot about tolerance and getting along from this thread. I admit that when I'm gone, I wish I could access the information found here, and I truly miss this valuable resource. Not to mention I am receiving an ongoing education in Foreign Affairs.

For all of that, I am grateful.

;) M
