Tatas to launch CDMA services in five cities in Maharashtra
Nagpur, Mar 3

(UNI) Broadband network-based telecommunication service provider Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited is all set to launch its CDMA services in five cities in Maharashtra, its Chief Operating Officer Ajay Pandey today said.

Speaking to reporters here today its plans for the Maharashtra circle, Mr Pandey said if all goes well the CDMA would be launched in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nasik and Aurangabad in the first phase in the next twelve to sixteen weeks.

Mr Pandey said he hoped that the company would rope in around 150,000 customers in the first year of operations in Maharashtra.

Having invested Rs 3,500 crore in Maharashtra in its basic and limited mobility projects including Rs 360 crore in the CDMA services, the company hopes to make a net profit in the Maharashtra circle by March 2005, he said.

The Chief Operating Officer was, however, reluctant to comment on the price structure for the CDMA services saying it would depend on market forces and added that they would be competitive.

On the handsets for the services, Mr Pandey said they would be recommending a few brands and even the models so that they matched their services.
