Well, USA has always been fascinated with the sex life of their top politicians, officially, in
the daily media, for some decades and historically back to Jefferson, have you managed to miss that??

While other cultures, or election systems, see mutually consenting sexual behaviour among
adults as something private, for them and their closest, not a circus for the voters.

The election system is importatn in that the US single-candidate-district system, in combination
with the seniority principle, makes politicans vulnerable to attacks on their districts.
(by just some few votes as it is a question of 50-50%)
On the other hand, the district not want to switch from a senior one to a new one as the new one
will not have access to the real power, the commmittees.

And on top of that the districts are gerrymandered by "committee".

That is, back to sex, divorce rates and wealthy, powerful leaders, the (non-USA) debate sometimes
mentions the muslim-french system of simultaneous wifes might be better than the serial-system
with numerous divorces and the kids here and there.
