I wasn't comparing quality of life, I was only talking about how we know that people like the old guy in South Africa aren't being held illegally. Trust us is the answer. Well, people have learned over millennia that trust us is not an acceptable answer. That's why there's a UN inspection team in Iraq. The FBI got that guy locked up and left him there, which shows they couldn't be trusted to do it right. Especially, we have learned that empire rulers are indifferent, to a greater or lesser extent, to the lives of those they conquer. Look what happened to the aborigines of America, the slaves from Africa. Americans obviously don't have lovey dovey genes more than the rest of us. Think weapons of mass destruction and the most spectacular example was Hiroshima. Sure, there's a war on at the moment [against Iraq and the Axis of Evil and Matrix of Malevolence], declared or undeclared. But after 1000 years, the rest of us are going to want to know who's who, who is a prisoner, who isn't and what's going on. We'll want some international rules which make more sense than the dopey United Nations which goes on about marijuana but can't protect people against war, which is their founding brief. We certainly don't want to be arbitrarily held in prisons, even if they are better than a concrete floor in South Africa. We want the age old stuff which protects individuals against rampant government, police and military bullies. Habeas corpus, common law, universal human rights and all that good stuff. Do you remember the USA used to lecture China about human rights? We don't hear much about that these days do we? The USA right now has a concentration camp full of political prisoners - held with no trial, no public disclosure, no rights - not even prisoner of war status. The USA needs to initiate a reconstitution of the UN. The USA isn't happy with the UN and neither are most people [my guess]. We the Sheeple want the mess sorted out so we can live our lives in peace, light, harmony, happiness, prosperity, longevity, fun and love. The USA constitution is based on the idea that the government can't be trusted. They must answer to other arms of government, which can impeach them and to the people in elections. We need a similar constitution for the United Nations. The USA is in a position to act on leading such a revamp. I wonder if they will. I suspect they'll not bother. Mqurice
