From Briefing.com: 3:16PM Digitimes article forecasts drop in WLAN card prices in 2H : An article in the Digitimes forecasts that prices for WLAN cards will see a decline from its current $16-$17 to as much as 20%-30% ending up in the $10 range in light of other players attempting to enter these markets. As these prices continue to exhibit a downward trend, a primary 802.11b chip player such as Intersil (ISIL) will be subject to average selling price erosion as new entrants undercut pricing and make it difficult to maintain its margins in its WLAN product segment.

9:21AM Cypress Semiconductor -- Update (CY) 6.15: Upon review of CY's announcement of revising its Q1 guidance from flat to an increase of 2%, it is important to note the nature of this marginal increase. The revision is attributed to demand for its wireless and computation products, which consist of everything from SRAM's to clock chips. The effects of this announcement could be considered as a negative for its primary competitor ICST as potentially taking market share. However, rumors are circulating on both sides that each co. is taking market share from each other and ICST's CEO has been very positive on the business lately. The end result of this announcement is probably a reflection of demand and not necessarily taking market share.
