I think it's the anguish of today's news.
Poll: Giuliani Ousts Schumer in 2004

Look out, Chuck - here comes Rudy!

In a new Zogby poll, Sen. Charles Schumer is viewed
favorably, in general, among different voters and
groups, but when stacked up against America's Mayor,
Rudy Giuliani, in a virtual Senate race, Schumer gets
beaten.

The Zogby poll says that if the election were held
today, Democrats would favor Schumer 61 percent to 27
percent, GOPers would vote for Rudy 70 percent to 15
percent, and Independents would favor Rudy by 45 percent
to 35 percent, adding up to a defeat for Schumer and a
victory for Rudy, 45 percent to 35 percent.

Giuliani has a huge advantage among likely voters in the
under-50-years-old category, and nearly half of all
males polled favor the former mayor. Among the women,
Schumer and Giuliani are in a statistical dead heat.

Giuliani also still enjoys a 77 percent overall
favorable rating, and in the City he's almost in the
rarefied air of 90 percent favorable.
