I'd argue that we're on our way in the other direction right now.

HOW DO YOU FIGURE THAT???

You've got extremist liberals (Hillary Clinton, Teddy Kennedy, Chuck Schumer) who have declared war on the president's most qualified appointments. Over the last 20 years there has been an escalation in the use of the "borking" technique to insure that only liberals make it to the courts.

We have a filibuster underway right now in the Senate because the liberals are insisting that never again shall even a MILDLY conservative nominee be approved.

I don't know where you got it, but the suggestion we're heading the other way at this point in time is nothing short of absurd.

Z, <Conservatism by definition represents the old, and liberalism represents the new.>

You could also say that conservatism by definition represents the cautious, while liberalism represents the reckless.

Well, wouldn't that make sense? Conservatism by definition represents the old, and liberalism represents the new.

Leaving aside for the moment that not all changes are good ones, there is also the fact that liberals or the Democratic party often support old ideas or entrenched interests.
