My options strategy is generally to have a core position (long puts for now) and then daytrade another portion. I play SPX options mostly since they are very liquid and you can get decent moves intraday.

Other index options are not very liquid. I do have SOX puts, but they are not liquid. NDX is not liquid, BKX, BTK..etc....

Daytrading a portion of options can mitigate the days when the core is going against you.
