I have to say that straddles are great for earnings on highly volatile stocks (the ones that either go up or down a couple bucks based on their reports)....

Speaking of straddles, there are a couple of biotech plays to consider: REGN and ISIS. Both should be announcing key PIII results this month. I have no opinion on the results, but the stocks will definitely move wildly, so if the implied volatilities aren't too unreasonable, they might work. I will say that failure seems to have been priced into ISIS, but that doesn't mean there's no downside, only that a good result will easily double the stock. The odds of that happening? Beats me.

Cheers, Tuck
