The exception of course would be people like the Kennedys, Ted Turners, certain Hollywood types, etc.

You left out the bushes the hunts the rockefellers and those types. Half truths are the mortar of the right wingers.

You are deluding yourself with politcal bias if you think that most of the wealthy people who inherited their wealth are liberals like Kennedy and Turner and Hollywood types, etc. There is no rationality behind that assertion. The town I grew up in was about as conservative Republican as you get. And, the people I grew up with mostly inherited their wealth. As if most of these conservative Republican/corporate types didn't inherit their wealth? You think all those conservative Republican wealthy towns in states like Conneticut are full of a bunch of people who made their wealth during the current generation?

I do agree with you that one of the great virtues of America is the fact that if you have a good head on your shoulders, you can make it rich and move up the social ladder very quickly. I know America has been very good to me financially. There are certainly some wealthy people who know what it's like to live paycheck to paycheck. But, I wouldn't say that most wealthy people have been there and know what it's like to live in the middle or lower classes. There is no evidence to that effect that I've seen in my life. Sure, some people make it rich. But, most rich people are rich by birth and are elitists to boot. They do look down upon those in lower economic classes. I've witnessed it myself many times.
