OT: $500.00 still buys a lot of pizza Jan. Smaller trades can be very safe and they can really add up.

I've learned some hard lessons this last year.

Almost every time I went out on a limb with margin trading I panicked and sold when when a position moved against me. Money I did not need to lose because if I had held I could have made money.

By trading only 1000 shares I have not made a lot of money on trades in 2003 but I have lost nothing this year.

Why?

It's simple even when a position moves the wrong direction I can patiently wait for the current volatility to bring it back to me. Heck I even made money on a short sale I made last week on AMAT at 12.54 this morning when I sold at 12.40. Now had I owned 5000 shares I might have gone nuts yesterday when the stock was 70 cents higher than my short sale price. Since I only had 1000 shares I did not panic and I made $130.00 today for being patient.

Anyway, congratulations!
