OK. I have no problem with any out that, really.

Yes, the easy part will be winning the war. The hard part comes after when we must occupy it and every US soldier is a potential target for every jihadist.

And that would be expensive. Billions every year for years, most likely. OTOH, the ME mess already costs us that.

killing of people
Depends on who those people are. If they are the ones who want to slam planes into skyscrapers, I have no problem with it.

and to change those medieval cultures into the 21st century will take decades - they have a history of centuries of not getting along
Was it not long ago that the same was being said of Afghanistan? "The graveyard of great empires"? And what of the Balkans before that? They are the classic quagmire.

nor do I think they will ever accept Israel
US ME policy has to change. Period. The Arabs have a point about a heavy US tilt towards Israel.
And that is really a domestic problem: the Jewish lobby.

I will support our decision 100%, I will support our people in the military 100%
Amen.

` I'm also tired of people, foreigners and Americans criticizing the US for just about every move we've ever made and are now making in the world political arena
Yes. Every mistake or supposed mistake that the US has made in the past 200 years has been dragged into this at some point.

For those who wish to play THAT game, I'll gladly do a point by point comparison of US history and policy against that of France or Germany over the last 200 years.

`or we can just say screw it and withdraw completely from the world arena and let them have at it
Tempting. Not practical.

`what kind of a world do you think they will form in 25 years? what kind of a world for the next generation?
If the US withdraws into isolationism? Israel is gone. A second genocide. I would expect numerous wars among the Arabs as they fight for control among themselves.

And it would be amusing in some ways to watch the Europeans try to deal with the disastrous mess brewing just across the Mediterannean Sea from them.

and...Turkey, Germany, France and Russia are making a BIG mistake - don't bite the hand that feeds you - if they need us for something, they will be on our doorstep in a New York minute
Supposedly Mr. Bush told Chirac that what he is doing now will not be forgotten.
