It's much ado about nothing.

I think this about says what needs to be said. But most Americans, regardless of religion, are offended at the notion of liberals picking apart the Pledge.

Personally, I'd say I'm pretty close to agnostic; however, I feel strongly that religious teachings are important and, in particular, the teachings of Christ are what is missing from society today.

I've long felt that children could benefit from a "Do Unto Others" course every year k-12, so that they learn to have a little respect for other people and their lives. If it has a little religious overtone, all the better. It isn't about church and state, it is about church and school, which I see as a different thing.

>It's much ado about nothing. If Congress was telling us we must worship this God and in this fashion, that would be different. Saying the word God, or even making money available for an addict to choose to go to any religious drug rehab program has nothing to do with establishing an official religion.

And what about people whose religions don't call their Supreme Being "God"?

And don't forget us atheists.

>Those that argue against it have an agenda.

To not say something we don't believe in?

It's much ado about nothing.

Then why is Bush taking it to the Sup. Ct?

Those that argue against it have an agenda.

No, its the right who have an agenda. That's why they got the clause inserted. They don't want a separation of church and state even though Jesus called for just such a separation.

This is all about human hypocrisy. Its why I hate religious types from OBL on down. They pervert the good names of God, Allah and Budda.
