Do you think Saddam would have suddenly become so cooperative without those troops breathing down his neck? No, I don't. I think the threat has been very effective. Now if I could just convince myself that the Boss would be satisfied with an effective threat... We should never underestimate our enemies. Not suggesting we should. My point was that 300K soldiers might just "mislead" people into thinking that we were going to do something more than assassinate Saddam. Surely you can understand how some might get that impression. Your point was that it should be obvious or at least discussed until it was clear that the war is really only a police action to capture a few bad guys. Well, it's not obvious to those who are scared or distrustful or simply want to cover all their bases.
