According to Bob Woodward's book on the Gulf War, that's exactly the calculation the Bush administration made. They had concluded they could get Saddam out of Kuwait with or without force but chose force as the only way to establish a military presence in the region.

During all that the UN farted around. Notice the US didn't go after him until it was mandated by the UN? 1991 wasn't a unilateral attack, it was a UN, not US attack.

For the last time, Your contention was that Bush went to Kuwait's defense only to establish a foothold in the area. You have no proof of that, yet you believe it. Since you dishonestly avoid the point, I will from now on simply ridicule you when the opportunities present themselves.
