And "waves"? The correct TA methodology *is* wave analysis, whether one wants to call it that or not. Take another look at the chart. Four crests (peaks) .. three valleys between. The crests occurred at approximate 2 year intervals. The 4th most recent wave was the weakest. Hence Amy J's conclusion, an implied pent-up-demand.

(Aside: I'm making no judgments on whether or not the data charted is significant. Nor am I implying support, or lack of support, via fundamental analysis.)

The pencil you are using is too sharp. Who cares if the period is exactly 2 years or not? Who cares if the waves don't exactly align with odd-even years? It doesn't change the logical conclusion of pent-up-demand.

And you are not "thinking outside the box" IMO. "Reading" a chart is more of an art than a science. But if you must apply mathematics, try Fourier analysis.
