patron,

I am watching the Canadian stock N that trades on the NYSE for an entry. Waiting for a day with very few bids on the floor. <g> The research I have done tells me there is a supply demand problem in Nickel for a few years and these folks should do well.

Frank lives in Alberta and can give you information on the gas companies in Canada.

Noranda (NRD) trades on NYSE and is big resource conglomerate, mainly base metals. Getting cheap (check the yield). As is Abitibi - world biggest newsprint producer (ABY on NYSE)

The problem is that loonie going up is bad for these companies. Their costs are in loonies and sales are by and large in $US.

The stocks are getting hammered because of this (and maybe recession worries)

But Inco and the other big Canadian resource stocks are getting darned cheap when you look at their assets.
