I haven't read any studies but did read the article. I would bet both sexually promiscuous people and unsafe medical practices (dirty needles and other things) play big roles. Arguing which is the biggest problem is a waste of time. Both should be attacked.

Guess this is OT for this thread.

"What causes AIDS" is one of those things that gets all distorted due to politicians, not scientists, or at least not science.

There is a tremendous battleground between people who want heterosexual AIDS to be a myth for political reasons and those who don't. If heterosexual AIDS is a myth, then heterosexuals will be less likely to fund it because "those people" are getting AIDS from behavior that can be characterized variously as sinful, disgusting and risky. They accuse homosexual AIDS activists of promoting the myth of heterosexual AIDS in order to get funding.

I actually have no idea what the truth is. I just know about the fight.

It's kind of like the fight over whether abortions cause breast cancer.

Or, after reading the Gallup poll Lindy cited, the fight between creationists and evolutionists. I wonder how they categorize people who believe that God created an evolving universe?
