<<I believe Saddam has complied and is complying with the UN inspectors.>>

The discussion ends here. I do not believe he is telling the truth. One day he says he has no WMD and the next day he says we will destroy all weapons that we are not supposed to have. Also said we will use these weapons against the Americans if they invade. How can he use them if he doesn't have any?

<<<< ploy to colonize Iraq and obtain control of the oil.>>

If that is their purpose they could have taken over Iraq in 1991 with all their oil.

<<I do not think that my reasons for disagreement with the US and UK about going to war either lean too far to the left or are anti-American, in fact, I think they are logical and legitimate. And, fair.>>

Of course you do. That is why we can have a reasonable disagreement. We do not agree on the basic facts.

I certainly don't defend Saddam. He is crazy, like a fox. By dragging out the destruction of weapons, if that is what is going on, he is forcing the Bushies to come out with ever increasing rhetoric that will strangle themselves in the eyes of the world.
Just watched Powell expressing the great concern for the welfare of the Iraqi public. It was pitiful. It's an insult to think that any of us are buying it. This concern for the Iraqi public has been lacking since 1991 along with the want of their oil. Tell me there isn't a connection.

CNN is showing massive protests by US high school students across America who are leaving schools and marching on city halls. As one commentator stated, they don't like the idea of possibly be drafted in a war such as this. Can't blame them.
