Based on the huge potential for backlash I would agree with you. Its hard for me to imagine that anyone would risk their career and place in history over such an unpopular war ( unpopular being more on a global level ) unless they were very solid in their beliefs of human rights violations and potential future incidents that could make 9/11 seem small.
