Our only moral failing was allowing the chemical sales to go through with the knowledge that Iraq could covert them and use them as weapons. We also double-crossed Iraq by selling arms to Iran as part of the Iran-Contra scandal. But at least that was done primarily for humanitarian purposes.

All our other efforts to keep the Iran-Iraq war going as long as possible were noble and just. As was our refusal to officially get in bed with Saddam.

My only point is we are not blameless. We did supply things that we shouldn't have and I accept that. But you're right with regard to time frame and relevancy to todays situation

well the $1.3Bil worth of military aid to Pakistan since 9/11 has produced some bright shining co-operation from out of that corner ....

hindsight is 20/20...re Iraq.

Yet in the future , that will be just as questionable a decision?

The emphasis now has to be on "disarming" people not arming them ...ie : IRaq.

(and the NK's)
