Patron, in general I agree with him, of course. But perhaps Canada doesn't need gold reserves as much as most other nations because it has reserves of both gold and oil in the ground ... I'd think they'd serve to underpin the currency somewhat in a crisis (even short of FDR-style outright confiscation)?
