Last time I checked the Pope was calling an Iraq invasion an unjust war. That's the tradition out of which Carroll is writing. It's not a "reasonable" place; it's a moral place. That's a piece about morality; not about the pragmatics of foreign policy.

As for Krugman, he's only the best political columnist of the moment. And not a bad economist either.

I'm tempted to type about the Bush moral universe here, but I won't. Not exactly serious FP material either.
